What were you doing at around 12:30 last night? I was freaking out. Why? because at about midnight I decided to take out the trash. (isn't that what everyone does at midnight?) So, bag in hand, I started to walk to the door that leads to our garage, and there, on the door was a HUGE cockroach. I can not stand cockroaches. So, I dropped the bag and called Wendell. Unfortunately I wasn't calling him from the next room. I was calling him at work. (yes, he was still at work at 12:30 am) He answered the phone and all I could say was there is a huge cockroach on the door. He kind of laughed and asked what I would like him to do. I really wanted him to come home and kill it, but I knew that would take too long. I also knew that if I tried to throw something at it I would miss and it would probably fly at me. So, since the roach was on the door to the garage, where we keep the bug spray (the kind that can shoot streams up to 50 feet) I knew I was going to have to go out the front door and enter the garage from the outside. While I was getting my shoes he moved off of the door....so I went out that way. I got the spray, came in, and shot him. Of course, he flew at me, so I sort of ran into the kitchen spraying wildly into the air. I hit him a couple of times I think. After that I just watched him crawl around so that I could show Wendell where he died and he could remove it. I had to spray him a few more times because he just wouldn't give up. He finally died trying to crawl under the piano.
Before and after photos....just so you can see how creepy they really are.
Oh, and if we start to act a little strangely you can blame it on the bug spray.
Have a nice day.

Very Funny! That made me laugh. :)
ReplyDeleteplease dont tell me you really took pictures of it before. i dont miss those at all.
ReplyDeleteI am going to need to see that video of you killing the cockroach in the next life for sure!
ReplyDeleteah! I would freak out too. I always tell Nick he has to kill them or else the cockroach is going to attack me while I'm sleeping and may or may not poison me. You never know.
ReplyDeleteSick. I don't miss those roaches! Especially since they try and aim for your head alllll the time. The worst ones are the roaches with the designs on their back. You know the yellow designs? Ewww. Oh Aunty Sondra, you're just like Emi. Emi would call someone else first before touching one. One time I printed out a picture of a roach and put it under a towel and told her my mom said to pick it up. She did and screamed and I thought she was going to cry. hahaha. She forgave me though.
ReplyDeleteI am totally shuddering right now. And having flashbacks. The same thing happened to me once when Jeff was too sick to get out of bed and I was screaming and crying and running and spraying 3 different bottles all at the same time. I count it as one of the most traumatizing moments of my life.
ReplyDeleteStill shuddering for ya.
I feel your fear sister. I Hate cockroaches with every ounce of my body. That happened to me to but fortunately Gil was just out with his friends so I made him come home and Kill it. He was under 10 min. away so I just made sure the roach stayed where it was. I love him for doing that.
ReplyDeleteWhat do mean....fly at you? Can cockroaches fly?
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was the same as Mindy's---cockroaches do not fly. What variety do you have in HI anyway???
ReplyDeleteAlso, most people never admit they have ever had one in THEIR house. But we know they are everywhere---and so gross!
Yes, cockroaches fly. In Hawaii we have the large flying variety. And if someone in Hawaii says they have never had a roach in their house they are lying. A stray big one will somehow creep in a couple of times a year. Always.
ReplyDeleteOK, so now I understand a little better about the Hawaiian Cockroach---the are big, scary, gross and they FLY! Reminds me of being at Nancy's in Texas and there was a big scorpion crawling across the carpet which I smashed. I was told they just put a cup over it until Dan comes home and takes care of it. She also has the occassional snake show up. That might be worse than a cockroach.
