So much better....

What did you do last weekend? Well, we decided we needed a small project, so.... Kendall removed all of the doors from the kitchen cabinets.
Then he removed the face plates from the drawers.
Why did he do this? We were hoping that it might improve the look.

It didn't. So, Mallory and I started to wash down all of the doors. Big mistake. Some of the doors had a sort of vinyl sheet that had been glued on the front. The water made them bubble up and get wavy.

We could peel some of it off in big sheets. Kathleen took the opportunity to use it as a sort of poster board.
We were so surprised by the subject she chose.
Some of the vinyl sheets were stuck on pretty good. Kendall asked if I had a heat gun. I said, "no, but I have an iron." It worked really well.
The next day Kathleen discovered she had a real talent for caulking.
And Mallory was an excellent sander.
I think they should start their own business.
When Kendall got home from work that night he built this spiffy little paint booth out of plastic sheeting and then sprayed on the primer.
After awhile it got pretty slippery for him, but he didn't want shoes. He figured he could wash his feet, but not shoes.
Wendell was home for a little while on Saturday morning, so he helped sand the bathroom drawers. Did I mention that Saturday morning I got up and quickly removed all of the bathroom cabinet doors and drawers. I was hoping Kendall wouldn't notice there were a few more. He did.
Kathleen wrapped the drawers so they wouldn't get covered with paint.
After Kendall sprayed everything beautifully with paint we had to lay them out to dry.

There wasn't enough room in the garage, so we had to use the living room too. It had been raining on and off all day, so we didn't want to just leave them outside. After a few hours he gave some of them a second coat.
Finally we got to put them all back on.
If you've been in my kitchen then I'm sure you can tell.....
They look so much better!

Thank you Kendall, Mallory, and Kathleen! I couldn't have done it without you!!
